has anyone figured out a way to communicate with the imfree device and add yahoo to it instead of just using aol? i have attempted to terminal into it through the usb base station using a direct connection to the com port. Yea, that didn't work! one would think that there was some way of interfacing with the device and setting up different services. my thought on the matter is if it only supported one service.....why in the world does it ask what service you want to use when you turn the thing on.

The device seems to have support for Yahoo and MSN in the hardware, but their software only supports AOL.

i used a dissembler program to check out the code on the main program file. i did a search for yahoo in the source and found several entries one stating "yahoo login" so the device software can even support yahoo messenger. we just need to figure out how the services are displayed on the device, like the previous post stated....it might be a rom-type update needed to be done. if anyone is curious about the source code (programmers only) then reply and i will get you a copy of the source.

The firmware is written too, just Motorola's not sharing. Courtesy of the FCC from the USA, jump to page 30 and you'll see what I'm talking about (PDF):
Clearly three options: "AIM"/"MSN"/"Yahoo". Hopefully we'll get "SSH"/"IRC" added to that list
